Our next SVI session will be held in June 2027

Where to go:

Please arrive at the main entrance to the Bienen School of Music at 70 Arts Circle Drive, Evanston.

When to go:

Classes begin Monday, June 21th at 8:45 am. Check-in is available starting at 7:30 am. There will be a welcome desk in the front lobby to greet you. Please stop by to pick up a folder with additional information and to get a key card, which gives access to the practice rooms.

When are you scheduled to play in class?

Please check the daily calendar to see when you are scheduled to play.

Repertoire choices:

Please consider the repertoire suggestions below as you prepare to attend the SVI. Having several pieces that are already well prepared will give you the flexibility to play different pieces for different teachers.

When you have decided on what you will play while you are here, please email me your list: bmilton@northwestern.edu This information is necessary in preparing the daily schedule.

Repertoire recommendation:
You can expect to play in three classes during the week, so please bring works (up to 3)  that you already know quite well. The idea is to bring music that you have already learned, not works-in-progress. You will get the most out of the classes by bringing your most prepared works. You may also include orchestra excerpts. You can choose to play a different piece each time you play or to repeat works.

Examples:

• concerto
• sonata with piano
• virtuoso piece
• Bach
• Ysaye
• caprice – (such as Paganini, Wieniawski, Beriot)
• orchestra excerpts

The classes will take place on stage at Pick-Staiger Concert Hall at 50 Arts Circle Drive, except for Thursday, June 19, which will be held in McClintock Hall.

On the first day, we will have a welcome meeting at 8:45 am in the hall, before the morning class begins at 9:00 am.
